The aim of the visit was to take an opportunity to show off HMS Daring and provide a state of the art platform for both industry and military engagement whilst in San Diego.HMS Daring is currently deployed for nine months to demonstrate the Royal Navy's global reach which includes contributing to maritime security in the Asia Pacific, conducting science and technology trials in the Pacific and representing the UK in Exercise Bersama Lima. This is part of the Five Power Defence Arrangement annual programme of exercises in the region where she will be operating with ships from the Navies of Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia and Singapore.The deployment will also allow Daring and her 190 crew to represent the UK at high-profile celebrations to mark the 100th anniversary of the Royal Australian Navy.Daring will also conduct a series of worldwide port visits to engage in wider regional Defence Engagement.
